Editing
Editing services take many different forms and tend to progress from copy editing to stylistic editing and finally to proofreading.
Copy editing focuses primarily on mechanical issues such as spelling, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary. This form of editing may include minor rephrasing of sentences for clarity and meaning, but it is more focused on making sure the rules of written English are applied consistently and correctly throughout your work. This is a popular service for students and professionals who speak English as an additional language; copy editing allows you to have complete confidence in your written work even if it is not in your first language.
The aim of stylistic editing is to help clarify and make consistent the tone, flow and and meaning of a piece of writing by polishing language and sentence construction. As an experienced editor, I work to simplify complicated sentences and paragraphs to ensure your meaning comes across clearly and effectively, smoothing transitions between ideas and paragraphs to make your writing read beautifully. This editing service is useful for all writers who wish to produce flawless and fluent written content.
Finally, proofreading is the last step in the process of editing your writing and involves reading through the entire text with the aim of catching any final errors or omissions while also ensuring that the piece as a whole is uniform in style, layout and tone.
Content Writing
The purpose of content writing is to create interesting, informative and engaging information that connects with clients and customers and conveys the values of the brand. This can take many forms, including developing content for emails, social media posts and company website content. This type of writing usually involves including SEO keywords in such a way that the content comes across as genuine and accessible but at the same time able to promote a product, brand or company.
Fee and Billing Structure
If you are interested in any of the above services, please complete and submit the contact form, filling in as much detail as possible. Upon receipt of your contact form, I will respond to you within twenty-four hours to set up a consultation either in person, over Skype, email, phone or messaging service to discuss your needs and manuscript. At this time I will ask to view the document in question, and I will be able to give you an estimate upon seeing your document. I also offer a free 100 word sample edit which can be arranged at this time.
If you are happy to continue with my services, I charge an hourly fee of $25 per hour with a discounted price of $20 per hour if you are a registered student. Apart from our initial consultation, I charge for travel time, parking fees and meeting in person, as well as Skype and phone meetings. I do not charge for time spent emailing and messaging. The first hour of editing will be charged in full and after that I charge to the nearest half hour.
When I have completed the edit, I will send you a sample of the finished product and my bill. Upon receipt of the agreed upon amount, I will send you the full completed document and discuss any changes with you. I accept payment by cheque, e-transfer or cash.
